Medicare Open Enrollment Starts Oct. 15 – AAA 1-B Offering Assistance

SOUTHFIELD, MI — Medicare beneficiaries, especially those who have a Part D (prescription drug) or Medicare Advantage plan, may want to review their benefits for 2022 to make sure the medication they take will still be covered or won’t cost them more. They also may want to make sure their doctor will still be part of their Medicare Advantage plan come January.

During Medicare Open Enrollment, from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, beneficiaries may change their prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage plan – or just have it reviewed — at no cost by a certified, unbiased Medicare counselor to make sure it fits their health care needs and budget. It is generally the only period during the year where changes can be made to a prescription drug plan.

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B’s Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) is offering in-person and virtual appointments with certified Medicare counselors throughout the agency’s six-county service area. Individuals will talk one-on-one with a counselor, who will help them evaluate their needs for the coming year.

MMAP is a nonprofit that serves older adults in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties.

Make your in-person or Zoom appointment today with a certified counselor who can help you review your Medicare prescription drug benefits during Open Enrollment (Oct. 15-Dec. 7), generally the only period during the year when you may switch to a different plan for 2023.
