22 Year OId Arrested After Firing Gunshots in Troy Home, Standoff with Police

(Troy Police, Sept. 10, 2022)

Troy, MI – At 11:43pm on Friday, September 9, 2022, the Troy Police Department received a 911 call from a female who reported that she had fled her home on Starr Dr after her adult son fired gunshots outside the home.  Besides her son, the caller reported that no one else was inside the home.

Officers quickly arrived on scene, gave shelter to the victim caller, and set up a perimeter around the home.  Members of the department’s crisis negotiation team were able to quickly establish phone contact with the subject.  He was agitated and not willing to speak with officers.  While on scene, officers continued to hear gunfire from the home.

Simultaneously, efforts to advise the surrounding neighbors to shelter in place were made by Officers on scene and Troy Communications personnel.

The Troy Police Tactical Support Team and additional members of the Crisis Negotiation Team were called out and responded. As the incident progressed and negotiations continued, additional tactical resources responded from The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Alliance Mobile Health also had ambulance crews on scene.

After negotiations attempts failed to progress through the night, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deployed a robot to search the interior of the home.

At 8:35am, almost 9 hours after the initial 911 call was received, officers located the 22-year-old male subject hiding in the backseat of a car parked in the backyard of the home.  The subject was immediately taken into custody by the Tactical Support Team without incident.

The Troy Police Department would like to express our gratitude to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Alliance Mobile Health units, and each Troy PD officer on scene along with our Communications Staff for their help in bringing this incident to a peaceful conclusion.
