Reporter Food: Battle Alley Brewing Company in Holly
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept 5, 2022)
Holly, MI – Battle Alley Brewing Company recently took over the space that was formerly Northern Oak Brewery, using their brewing equipment to create their own custom libations, and the kitchen to serve up delicious food, with an emphasis on BBQ.
Some friends and I went for a delicious lunch that began with their Bad Axe Nachos – crispy corn chips topped with roasted poblano white cheddar sauce, rojo, Pico de Gallo, roasted corn, habanero lavender agave – all handmade in house, topped with pulled pork and served with a selection of sauces.
One of my dining companions had the Back Alley Salad, made with Spring mix, tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded carrots, red onions, shredded cheese, and hard boiled eggs. The huge salad came served on a metal tray with cups of raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
My other friend and I both had the same idea in ordering the Battle Burger – Two smashed and seared brisket & short rib burger blend patties, caramelized onions, candied bacon, sliced cheddar, lettuce, tomato & aioli served on a fresh brioche bun. In case you were reading that too quickly, yes, it said candied bacon. Mmmm….
Other options include the Smoked Brisket Sandwich, the Southern Fried BLT Sandwich, Smoked Wings, Fried Green Tomatoes, Burnt Ends, and more. And of course there is a selection of craft beer.
In addition to the new foods, Battle Alley Brewing has made the space their own with circus-themed murals, nodding back to the days when Barnum and Bailey would come to down.
