Section of Clarkston Road to Close for Sewer Construction, Paving

(Road Commission for Oakland County, July 31, 2022)

Oakland Township, MI – The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has issued a permit allowing a private developer to close Clarkston Road between Adams Road and Lake George Road in Oakland Township to through traffic from Aug. 4 to late November.

The closure is necessary for the installation of storm sewers and drainage structure improvements by the developer’s contractor. The contractor will then pave the one-mile section of the gravel road (Adams Road to Lake George Road) in conjunction with the private development.

Access to homes and businesses within the closed section of Clarkston Road will be maintained throughout the closure. The detour during the closure will be Adams Road to Stoney Creek Road to Lake George Road, back to Clarkston Road and vice versa.

Ajax paving is the developer’s contractor for the storm sewer installation, drainage improvements and asphalt paving. The developer hopes to complete the paving this year, but depending on weather and other factors, it’s possible the paving could be completed in the spring of 2023.

This section of Clarkston Road carries approximately 1,240 vehicles per day
