Reporter Food: Detroit Bubble Tea in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 20, 2022)
Ferndale, MI – Detroit Bubble Tea in Downtown Ferndale takes Bubble Tea to a new level by offering a large variety of flavors and styles to choose from.
There are three steps that a guest has to make when creating their own custom Bubble Tea.
First is the flavor of the drink. Choices include cherry, chocolate, lychee, lime, coffee, dragon fruit, pineapple, raspberry and more.
The second step is to decide one’s drink type. There is iced tea, milk tea, smoothie and slushie.
The third step is the “bubbles” There are tapioca pearls which are soft and gooey on the outside, sweet and chewy on the inside. Popping pearls are a sweet juice pearl that pops with flavor when bitten into. And there are fruit bits as well, including pineapple. Popping pearl include peach, blueberry, cherry and more.
I am partial to the almond milk smoothies, though I try to get different flavors and combinations each time. One delicious mix was brown sugar flavored smootie with pineapple pieces so it tasted like pineapple upside down cake. Another great choice was peach flavored with vanilla yogurt popping pearls for the flavor of peaches and cream. Peach paired with cherry popping pearls is also delicious.
Though the bubble tea is the main attraction, there are also cookies and other sweets, including an array of macaroon cookies.Plus there is a small area for gift items, including bubble tea scented air fresheners.
Detroit Bubble Tea is located at 22821 Woodward Ave, next to Rust Belt Market. Read more about this fun Downtown Ferndale spot and order online at www.detroitbubbletea.com.
