Reporter Food: The Bronx Deli in Pontiac

(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 30, 2022)

Pontiac, MI – The Bronx Deli in Pontiac has the best of a New York Style Deli paired with the ambiance of a neighborhood bar – with food to please those expecting either.

Since 2007, The Bronx Deli has been known for their corned beef, pastrami, and oven-roasted turkey.

The Big Mouth Sandwich has regional fame – piling on a choice of meats between two thick slices of rye bread with Swiss cheese, slaw and secret recipe Russian dressing. I did not give this a try as I was lured away by The Stinking Italian panini.

Made with Italian ham and Italian salami loaded with fresh chopped garlic butter and quality provolone cheese, The Stinking Italian lived up to it’s name. I also had garlic fries to keep with the theme.

The corned beef egg roll was one big roll filled with Sy Ginberg’s corned beef, cole slaw, and Swiss cheese that is deep fried and served with a side of house made Russian dressing. The crispy greasy outer layer went so well with the tangy slaw, and it was big enough to be a meal on it’s own.

A number of sandwiches are made with their famous meats, plus other choices include the veggie Reuben, the tuna salad, and a grilled cheese panini. Also check out their soups and salads.

The Bronx Deli is located at 247 S. Telegraph in Pontiac.  For the full menu and easy online ordering visit https://www.bronxdeli.com
