Businesses Can Buy a Space in Hollyopoly Game, Funds to Help Move Historic Depot

Holly, MI – Here’s a chance for businesses to be Holly-famous, by purchasing naming rights to a square on the upcoming board game Hollyopoly! Modeled after the classic Monopoly game, Hollyopoly will feature local attractions, groups, businesses and families. Businesses can buy a space on the board or a name on the game AND Families or individuals can purchase your name on the game or on a card for the game!
“People still talk about the one done before and that was in 1994,” said Holly Downtown Development Director Nick Klempp. “Make sure you get in on it as there is limited space!”
The fundraiser is organized by the Save Our Holly Union Depot group, who is aiming to relocate the 1886-built Holly Union Depot to a place where it’s safe for the public to access. Currently it is too close to the railroad tracks, so visitors are not allowed. But if moved to a new location, closer to the buildings of the downtown core, it could be utilized as a visitor center and event space.
There is no set timeline for the Hollyopoly game. Klempp tells Oakland County Times that spaces are filling up quickly. Once the spots are sold, the game can be created. They’re aiming for a Hollydays release, but it could end up being a Dickens Festival launch depending on how things go with production. Once available, folks can purchased them from the office, at special events, and at select Downtown businesses which will be announced.
