Celebrating Successes as Oakland County Times Turns 13
(Crystal A. Proxmire, June 1, 2022)
Oakland County, MI – Today we celebrate our 13th birthday!
Oakland County Times launched on June 1, 2009 as The Ferndale One-Fifteen News, so named because it came out like an online magazine on the first and fifteenth of each month.
Over the years this grassroots community news publication has grown from serving one city, to a county-wide framework that we’re continuously growing into. Our goal was to have a known presence in every community by 2020 and doing full coverage by 2025. Even with COVID, and the economic challenges brought with it, Oakland County Times has continued to grow and thrive thanks to the collaborative efforts that make it happen.
This past year has been especially exciting as we’ve moved to a centralized location in the heart of Oakland County, and begun adding on interns and student writers. While we may not have the budgets of big corporate publications, we continue to have community relationships, reliable information, and quality journalism that comes from being a sincere part of the community.
We’ve also just launched this new website, with lots of great features that you can read about here. Thanks to Tommy and the team at LoudBaby.com for making this happen!
