Oak Park, Ferndale, MI – In April, Ferndale Schools hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for their new elementary school. The building will serve students in grades 1-5 with flexible work spaces and modern technology, along with measures for safety.
“To our community, thank you for your steadfast commitment to ensuring our students have the optimal learning environment. Without your support, this day would not have been possible,” said Superintendent Dania Bazzi. “Our little Eagles will certainly fly high in their new school.”
The project comes following a bond vote, as well as the requirement that neighbors sign off on the construction due to part of the project taking place on former park land, making use of both the park and property that once housed CASA (Center for Advanced Studies and the Arts), a creative magnet school serving multiple districts. “The 2020 Bond which was passed by an overwhelming majority of voters fully funds this new elementary building at no tax rate increase. These new facilities will integrate modern insights into our learning environments; new technology; and high-efficiency heating, cooling, infrastructure into an amazing community asset.”
CASA will be relocated to the current Roosevelt building.
