Video: Ferndale Chief Chats About Fire Causes, New Technologies, Glass Ceilings, and Community

Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, MI – Teresa Robinson joined the Ferndale Fire Department as Chief in 2019, a time when pandemic protocols prevented the kind of meet and greet gatherings the City typically has when introducing new department heads to the public. Her department handles fire and ems for Ferndale as well as neighboring Pleasant Ridge.
In this interview with Oakland County Times, Chief Robinson talked about her career before coming to Ferndale, including being the first female in the Lansing Fire Department to reach a rank above Captain – serving as Assistant Chief.
She also talked about the causes of fires, fire prevention efforts, what other work firefighters do beyond the obvious, and her thoughts on the building needs for the fire station.Check out the interview below to hear for yourself:
