May 24 – The 11th Congressional District Democratic Primary Debate at OU
Oakland University and its Center for Civic Engagement are pleased to continue to serve as a “convener of conversations” about issues of public importance. On May 24, 2022, OU will be the host site for a debate between U.S. Representative Andy Levin and U.S. Representative Haley Stevens as they campaign for the Democratic Party’s nomination in Michigan’s new 11th Congressional District.
Chuck Stokes, Editorial and Public Affairs Director for WXYZ Channel 7, and Chad Livengood, Senior Editor for Politics and Policy at Crain’s Detroit Business, will moderate the debate.
The primary campaign between Representatives Stevens and Levin is one of the most-watched primary battles in the United States. It has earned national attention and will continue to do so.
OU is pleased to welcome you to campus – part of which is in the new 11th District – to hear from these candidates as they seek to move on to the general election.
In addition, members of the public are invited to submit questions for the candidates. The debate moderators will be furnished with all questions submitted to help them ask the candidates about the issues that are of greatest interest. You may submit questions through the registration website linked below.
