Police Investigating Shooting in Oak Park

Oak Park, MI – On Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 3:30PM, Officers from the Oak Park Public Safety Department responded to a call for service on the 21000 block of Dartmouth. The caller requested Officers to assist her in retrieving a cellular telephone that had been inadvertently left in a ride share vehicle the previous evening.
Prior to Officers arrival on scene, an altercation took place outside of the residence resulting in several shots being fired. The victim, a 22 year old resident of Oak Park, was struck by the gunfire. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
As Officers were arriving on scene, the suspect vehicle, a silver minivan was observed leaving the area. Officers made an investigative stop on the vehicle. After further investigation, a 21 year old male was arrested for his involvement in the incident. This case will be presented to the Oakland Prosecutor’s Office for the appropriate charges.
