VIDEO: First Stop Fridays Rock Ferndale Library, Next Show Soon

Ferndale, MI- The Ferndale Area District Library has been a little quiet the past couple years, as COVID caused close downs and limited activities. But the beloved First Stop Friday Concert series is back. In February the Codgers helped re-launch the free concert series, which is supported by Friends of the Ferndale Library.

The Codgers have been playing together since meeting in Corktown in 2006 and they’re known for their “Celtic-tinged Americana sound.”

With chairs spaced apart for safety and face masks on, audience members spilled into the entryway and hall to listen in. Librarians Jeff Milo and Kelly Bennett – the masterminds behind the series – were on hand to help with the audio, take pictures, and welcome guests.

“It feels great to be doing this again,” Bennett said. Not only does Bennett help line up local artists for the series, she curates a collection of local music cds that patrons can check out and enjoy.

On March 11 it will be indie-folk trio JACKAMO who will bring music to the library’s community room. A press release for the event tells us that “Tessa and Alison like to focus on the lyrics, specifically broaching resonant subject matter with honesty and forthright poise while also crafting evocative melodies that can then be augmented by their magnificent harmonies. And it’s probably not surprising that those harmonies are something to behold since they’ve been literally honing that technique their whole lives.”

Doors open at 7:30 on March 11, with the show beginning at 8pm. Jackamo’s performance at the Ferndale Library on March 11 is a free, all-ages event. These special concerts are made possible by the support of the Friends of the Ferndale Library. If you have any questions, email: info@fadl.org
