Reporter Food: Pink Garlic in Oak Park
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 28, 2022)
Oak Park, MI -Pink Garlic Indian Cuisine opened just a few months ago in Oak Park, but already has a loyal, and growing, customer base for it’s carryout-only business.
A friend and I recently grabbed a meal that I thought was delicious. I had the mango chicken, which was made with high quality chicken in a housemade “chef secret recipe” mango sauce that wasn’t overly sweet and really did justice to the flavor of the fruit. This was served with basmati rice.
My friend had the lamb vindaloo, which is cooked with lamb and potato in a hot, spicy gravy, also served with rice. We also indulged in an appetizer order of Onion bhaaji, which are hush-puppy sized balls of breaded and fried onion strings.
The menu at Pink Garlic is full of variety, with Tandooir Chicken, Bombay Aloo, Fish Jalfrezi, Chicken Archari, and King Prawn Pura being among the many choices.
Due to staffing issues, Pink Garlic has stopped lunch service, focusing on dinner carry-outs from 3pm-10pm. The menu is available online, but ordering is still done by telephone.
Check them out online at https://pinkgarlicmi.com and visit in person at 26661 Coolidge Avenue in Oak Park.
