Reporter Food: Prime Thai in Waterford
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 12, 2022)
Waterford, MI – The bright red awning and yellow elephant logo of Prime Thai help this Waterford restaurant stand out, and the level of quality has people coming back for more.
For my inaugural visit I savored a variety of flavors. The Apple Salad was my favorite. It was made with shredded apples, chicken, cashews, red onions, and coconut flakes. I saved this for later in the evening and all the flavors had really come together for a healthy, tangy and sweet snack.
Potstickers are a great appetizer. It’s a six piece order of dumplings filled with veggies and chicken served with a soy vinegar dipping sauce. For the main course I had Sesame Chicken, a lightly batter chicken stir-fry with sweet and sour sauce, broccoli and sprinkled with sesame. And to go along with it, a tasty Bubble Tea.
Prime Thai has several “creations” including Kickboxin’ Chicken (battered chicken stir fry with sweet and sour sauce and sliced scallions), Pad Prik Khing Green Beans (stir fried in red curry), Pad Preaw Wan (tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, onions, green pepper, pineapple, and sweet and sour sauce), and more.
Other options include Fried Catfish Curry, Sweet Chili Walleye, and Thai Rolls like the Pik Pik (Shrimp tempura and crab salad, cucumber. avocado, topped with salmon, shrimp, crunch, spicy sauce), and the Rainbow Roll (Crabstick, cucumber, avocado, topped with 5 pieces of fish).
Appetizers include Crab Rangoon, Fried Tofu, Chicken Satay, and Fried Calamari.
Prime Thai is located at 3377 Elizabeth Lake Road in Waterford Township. Find the full menu and order online on Doordash.
