Man Facing Federal Sentence Found Dead in Garage of Apparent Suicide
(OCSO, Feb. 11, 2022)
Commerce Twp, MI – A Commerce Township man who was to have begun a lengthy prison sentence Thursday was found dead in his garage from an apparent suicide. The body of James Richard Warner, 55, was found about 9:30 a.m. today by the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force which had gone to arrest him after he failed to report to Milan prison to begin serving a 10-year federal sentence for fraud. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was discovered in the garage of his home in Commerce Township. He was seated near a car and a canister of compressed nitrogen.
Family members last saw Warner on Thursday about 6 a.m. and were unable to locate him. His body was not visible from the entry door to the house. Sheriff’s Detectives as well as an investigator from the Oakland County Medical Examiner were sent to the scene and are handling the case. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday.
