VIDEO: Ferndale and PR Mayors Talk about Plans for Woodward Ave.

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Feb. 6, 2022)

Ferndale, Pleasant Ridge, MI – Woodward Avenue is slated for repaving from 8 mile in Ferndale up to I-696 in Pleasant Ridge with a road diet in the Ferndale portion.  The plan will reduce Woodward by one lane through Ferndale to add a protected bike lane.  The project is being completed by The Michigan Department of Transportation with input and funding from the cities, plus a $1.17 million TAP grant through SEMCOG.

Oakland County Times spoke with Mayor Melanie Piana of Ferndale and Mayor Bret Scott of Pleasant Ridge about the project – including the timeline, the scope, the plan for businesses, and what the plan means for users of the roadway – including those not in vehicles.
