Ferndale Kids Learn About Ways to Be Kind
(Ferndale Schools, Jan. 30, 2022)
Ferndale, MI – Take a look at how Ferndale Early Childhood Center students in Ms. Kathleen and Mrs. Lauryn’s class celebrated Kindness week:
Everyone deserves kindness in their lives. Our class explained kindness as sharing with friends, smiling at someone, saying something nice, and saying “I’m sorry”. Our class talks about ways we can be kind to each other every day, and they truly love each of their friends in our class, which is shown through many acts of kindness.
For Kindness week, we chose to create Kindness Rocks. Kindness Rocks is an amazing project that is done throughout the world to inspire, pick up, motivate, and bring a smile to those who receive them, find them somewhere in their neighborhood, or all over the world.
You can learn more about the Kindness Rocks project in this YouTube video.
Our students worked hard on painting their rocks, thought about something kind to write on them, and then decided who they wanted to give their special rocks to. They loved seeing the happiness that they brought to someone in our building.
Louis made his decision very quickly. He said, “ I want to give it to Mrs. Bresson because she is so nice”.
While we were painting the rocks, Frances said, “I can’t wait to make someone smile”.
Some of the words the children thought of were, “I love you”, “amazing”, “kisses”, “hugs”, and even “I love you so much like the love in your heart”.
We hope that our Kindness week project will inspire others to continue being kind to one another through simple acts of kindness.
