Reporter Food: Rainforest Cafe in Auburn Hills
Auburn Hills, MI – Dinner at Rainforest Cafe, with a location in Great Lakes Crossing Mall in Auburn Hills, is an experience for kids and young-at-heart adults to enjoy. A friend and I went for my birthday and it was so fun looking at the thousands of details that went into creating a creative, Amazonian-style space.
With artificial greenery and tropical plants draped overhead, and animated animals around the perimeter, guests are immersed in the mood of the jungle. Sounds of the rain forest add ambiance. Each half hour the restaurant comes alive, with gorillas. elephants and tigers moving in their places, a fine mist in the air, flashes of lights and the sound of thunder. In one section, visitors can sit under the stars, with a moon-lit sparkling sky and electronic shooting stars to add to the effect. In the lobby there’s a room full of gifts like toys, games, clothes, and plushies. And the entrance-way to the dining room is adorned with a giant fish tank.
The food was excellent as well.  I devoured an order of Mojo bones- a half rack of St. Louis style pork spareribs with smokin’ Mojo BBQ sauce served with fries and creamy coleslaw. I washed this down with a tasty Dragonberry mule made wtih Bacardi Dragon Berry Rum, St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur, strawberry purée, fresh lime juice, and ginger beer. My friend ordered the fish tacos made with blackened fish, jalapeño ranch, red cabbage, citrus vinaigrette, and pico de gallo served with a side of black beans. They also ordered a side of mashed potatoes.
It was a great meal with a fun-in-a-corny-way atmosphere that I would definitely recommend. Rainforest Cafe is located inside Great Lakes Crossing Mall at 4310 Baldwin Rd.  Find out more about their menu options and fun gift items at www.rainforest.cafe.com.
