“The Foundry” in Northville to Feature Apartments and Specialty Grocery
(City of Northville, Dec. 30, 2021)
Northville, MI -Northville is closer to having a specialty grocery store and 79 apartments in a new three-story building to be erected at 456 E. Cady following the Planning Commission’s approval on Dec. 21 of the final site plan with conditions. Local real estate investor and business owner Jim Long is representing the developer.
The building, known as “The Foundry” in honor of the former Foundry Flask site it occupies, will have commercial space on the first floor, including the market, and residential units on all floors, ranging from one to three bedrooms. There will also be first-floor covered parking in addition to surface parking lots.
Next steps are demolition of existing buildings with the developer saving some historical elements and artifacts (per Historic District Commission requirements), and formulating an environmental clean-up plan for the brownfield. The PC’s specified conditions for the final site plan include a detailed engineering review by the DPW, city engineer consultants and the project engineer, and installing decorative, pedestrian-scale lighting along the Cady street frontage to illuminate the sidewalk and portions of the roadway.
