Royal Oak Police Say Shooting Appears Accidental

Royal Oak, MI – The Royal Oak Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on S. Center Street near Fourth Street.
On Sunday, December 12, 2021, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Royal Oak dispatch received a 911 call from a male stating he was shot.
Officers quickly arrived and located a subject bleeding near his vehicle. The Royal Oak Fire Department transported him to William Beaumont Hospital where he underwent surgery and is currently listed in stable condition.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from a nearby business which revealed the subject shot himself. The shooting appears to be accidental, and the firearm used was recovered by officers.
