Hey, Records: Royal Oak Library Puts Vinyl LP’s into Circulation
(ROPL, Dec. 7, 2021)
ROYAL OAK, MI — The Royal Oak Public Library announces its newest circulating collection: Vinyl LPs. This collection was developed and curated by staff librarian Emily Crosby. Vinyl records have quickly become one of the largest, growing physical forms of music today. Vinyl offers a unique auditory and visual experience that creates an opportunity for shared musical experiences that span generations.
“Listening to vinyl has always felt magical to me,” stated Crosby. “I loved watching the needle descend upon the record and hearing that first crackle, seeing the record spin and one small needle relaying so much sound. I cannot wait to share this experience with our patrons here in Royal Oak.”
The collection consists of 50 albums ranging across music genres from jazz to metal and may be checked out for 21 days. The Library Network (TLN) member cardholders may check them out from and return to the Royal Oak Public Library using their library cards from their communities. At this time, items in the collection will not be made available through interlibrary loans or Michigan eLibrary (MeL).
The Royal Oak Public Library is located in downtown Royal Oak at 222 E. 11 Mile Rd. Royal Oak, MI 48067. For more information about the materials and services provided by the library, please visit ropl.org or call us at 248-246-3700.
