Several Oakland County School Districts Closed Thursday Due to Threats
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Dec. 1, 2021)
Oakland County, MI – Several Metro Detroit area school districts have opted to close schools on Thursday, with some closing Friday as well.  Some closings have happened along with explanations of the threat while others have simply announced a closure.  Several announcements reference threats and note that the threats are not considered credible.
For example, Rochester Community Schools sent a message to parents stating “There have been rumors circulating on social media indicating that other high schools may be at risk of experiencing a tragedy similar to the one that occurred recently at Oxford High School.  At Rochester Community Schools we take all threats very seriously.  All rumors continue to be thoroughly investigated by our local law enforcement. Although there appear o be no credible threats at this time, we are pausing in-person and virtual learning for the day out of an abundance of caution.”
A statement from Clarkston Community School says “Our district has worked closely with the OCSO to investigate each threat with a possible connection to CCS. At this time, none of the threats investigated have been deemed credible. However, the volume of indirect threats in the county makes it impossible for law enforcement to investigate each threat thoroughly.”
