Shooter Kills Driver, Shoots Stranger at Crash on Royal Oak/Pleasant Ridge Border

Royal Oak, MI- On Thursday, November 25, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Royal Oak officers received multiple 911 calls regarding an accident at Northbound Woodward under the I- 696 overpass.
As officers arrived at the area, gunshots were heard as vehicles were leaving the area of the accident. Royal Oak and Pleasant Ridge Officers located the accident and discovered the female driver was deceased from a gunshot to the head. It appears the passenger of the vehicle shot the female driver.
The passenger then exited the vehicle, fired at, and struck three other vehicles passing by the location. A female driving one of the vehicles was struck in the leg and transported to William Beaumont Hospital with non-threatening injuries.
The suspect was quickly located in the area and was taken into custody. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
UPDATE FROM OAKLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, 11:15 AM
SUMMARY: The Police Department’s for the cities of Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak requested the assistance of the OCSO Forensic Science Laboratory and OCSO Special Investigations Unit in processing and investigating the scene of a fatal shooting. The incident occurred on northbound Woodward underneath the I-696 overpass in the City of Pleasant Ridge and continued north into the City of Royal Oak. The scene involved several vehicles. The suspect fired his weapon inside of his car going NB on Woodward at the border of Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak. The victim was struck in the head.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT:  The responsible was taken into custody by Royal Oak PD and Pleasant Ridge PD and TOT OCSO. A 9mm handgun was recovered at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
VICTIM INFORMATION: Deceased is a 52-year-old female and mother of the suspect, resident of the City of Southfield
VICTIM INFORMATION: 43 year old female is a resident of Ferndale was shot in thigh currently hospitalized in stable condition.
ARRESTEE INFORMATION: 22-year-old male, resident of  the City of Troy, lodged at the Oakland County Jail
