Troy, MI – Due to the COVID pandemic and with flu season right around the corner, there is still a shortage of the Red Cross lifesaving blood supply. All eligible donors, especially platelet and blood donors with type O blood, are needed to help restock the shelves for hospital patients. In order to support the Red Cross efforts, the City of Troy has scheduled the following blood drives at the Troy Community Center | 3179 Livernois.
- Wednesday, December 1 | 9 am-7 pm
- Thursday, December 16 | 9 am-7 pm
- Wednesday, December 22 | 9 am-7 pm
- Monday, December 27 | 9 am-7 pm
- Tuesday, January 4 | 9 am-7 pm
- Wednesday, January 5 | 9 am-3 pm
- Tuesday, January 18 | 9 am-3 pm
- Monday, January 31 | 9 am-3 pm
Donation appointments can be easily scheduled by calling 313.300.9617 or 248.524.1147, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by using the free Blood Donor App. Photo ID or Red Cross Donor Card will be required at the time of donation. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds, and be in good general health.
“The blood needs of our community can only be met by support from volunteer blood donors,” City of Troy Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart said. “Donations are critical for burn victims, open-heart surgeries, some chemotherapy and leukemia patients, and disaster relief. One donation can help save the lives of up to three people.”
