Nov 18-19 –Area Agency on Aging 1-B Hosting Listening Sessions about Senior Needs

Southfield, MI – Two virtual listening sessions are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, and 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, to hear from the public about which senior services they think should be prioritized in the next three years.

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B’s Planning and Advocacy department staff will moderate the listening sessions.

“We want to hear about priorities and needs of older adults and caregivers in our community,” says Katie Wendel, director of Planning and Advocacy. “This takes the pulse of the community.”

The sessions do not take the place of a public hearing on the budget for senior services. That will be held in June 2022.

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B’s multiyear plan runs from 2022-2025. The listening sessions will help to gather input – and set goals – for programming in Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties.

The sessions are open to older adults, caregivers, service providers, and interested community members.

To join the sessions by Zoom, go to To join by phone, call 929-205-6099 and use meeting ID 844 242-4714.
