Pre-Order Turkey Dinners from OEB & Pop’s To Raise Money for Local Charities
(Hometown Restaurant Group, Nov. 8, 2021)
Ferndale, MI – Feed yourself and someone else this Thanksgiving with a “Friendsgiving” feast package from Hometown Restaurant Group (One-Eyed Betty’s, Pop’s for Italian, Public House & Garden) and donate to Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter.
Hometown Restaurant Group is partnering with Carmela Foods, Inc., this November to present the Ferndale Friendsgiving Feast as part of its Meals With a Mission initiative. Each pre-prepared Feast package includes a whole turkey and traditional sides prepared by Betty’s, Pop’s and Public House. Hometown Restaurant Group and Carmela Foods will donate matching turkeys to Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter for each feast package purchased.
Each heat-and-serve Feast package includes a whole turkey from Carmela Foods, slow smoked and prepared on a custom-offset smoker at the new Public House & Garden. All turkeys range from 18 to 26 pounds and are free-range, Amish-raised in Northern Michigan and are hormone and antibiotic free. Sides include candied yams from Public House; Cornbread stuffing and cranberry jelly prepared by Pop’s for Italian; Mashed potatoes and gravy from One-Eyed Betty’s; and Dutch apple pie for dessert.
The price of each feast is $100 and feeds four to eight people. Orders must be received by Monday, Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. Orders may be placed online at order.dinehometown.com or in person at Pop’s for Italian, 280 W. 9 Mile or One-Eyed Betty’s 175 West Troy St., in Ferndale. Quantities are limited. Meal pickups will be scheduled for 4 to 10 p.m. at Pop’s. Questions may be sent to Bryce Davenport at bdavenport@dinehometown.com.
Hometown Restaurant Group’s Meals With a Mission initiative serves to support individuals and people in need by partnering with area assistance and resources. Our monthly Dine-to-Donate dinners, which contribute 10-percent of total sales from each restaurant to a charitable organization, have benefited Affirmations, FernCare Free Clinic and the Kids Coalition Against Hunger.
“In our effort to be good neighbors, we are committed to giving back to the community that has given us so much support. Our Meals With a Mission initiative is one way we aim to strengthen and sustain our city and our guests,” said Hometown Restaurant Group President Brian Kramer. “We believe that a commitment to our community and its values should always guide our actions.”
Lighthouse of Oakland County and South Oakland Shelter partnered in 2019 to create Lighthouse MI to provide direct services (food, shelter, rental/utility and other financial assistance, clothing, crisis referrals) and stability and housing programs that develop and support self-sufficiency.
“Lighthouse aims to provide a full Thanksgiving Meal Box, with a turkey, to more than 2,000 local families in need,” said Andrea DiGiovanni, communications director for Lighthouse MI. “We count on a lot of help from the local community to make this program a reality.”
Lighthouse is currently seeking volunteers and collecting food donations through Nov. 15, with an emphasis on canned corn, beans, boxed potatoes, dessert mixes, canned yams, gravy packets and related items. Volunteers are needed to help pack boxes, raise funds and support families. For more information about volunteering visit lighthouse.org/thanksgiving2021.
