Southfield Seeking Input on Parks and Rec Master Plan

Southfield, MI – The city of Southfield is seeking residents’ input on the new Five-Year Parks & Recreation Master Plan currently in development.
Residents are invited to provide their input by participating in a Community Open House on Wednesday, October 27 or Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 6–8 p.m. in the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road.
Residents can also take the Community Survey online at www.publicinput.com/MySouthfieldParks or pick up the survey at the Parks & Recreation Office at the Municipal Campus (26000 Evergreen Road) or Beech Woods Recreation Center (22200 Beech Road).

The City of Southfield’s Five-Year Parks & Recreation Master Plan will be used as a guide for Southfield officials on all future recreational and parks projects within the City as an advisory document. It is a starting point for engineering studies, cost analysis, and to help engage public involvement to determine financial feasibility (tax payer capacity) of projects. Specifically, this plan is developed in accordance with the guidelines for Community Parks, Recreation, Open Space and Greenway Plans published by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). A five-year, MDNR-approved recreation plan is necessary for government entities to pursue MDNR-administered grants. This plan is comprehensive in scope to cover all aspects of park facilities and recreation within the community. Once it is finalized, it will guide short-term investment into long-term park and facility improvements.
