Reporter Food: Matt and Mo’s at Doug’s Delight in Hazel Park

Hazel Park,  MI – It’s only been a year since I last wrote about Matt and Mo’s Italian Beef at Doug’s Delight in Hazel Park, but when I had this Caprese Sandwich, I knew that I had to tell the world.  Made with buttery garlic bread and filled with generous slices of tomato and mozzarella cheese topped with a fantastic basil pesto sauce, the Caprese is an amazing choice at this neighborhood walk up ice cream spot.

Matt and Mo’s operates out of Doug’s Delight, adding a menu of savoy items to complement the business built on soft serve dougies and banana splits, plus Guernsey Farms Ice Cream flavors served by the scoop.  When I went last year I went all out with a variety of items to photograph and try, including the Italian Sausage sandwich, Italian Beef Sandwich, Toasted Ravioli, and a banana split.
For this visit I also snagged a coney topped with chili, onions, and mustard, some crispy french fries, and a chocolate shake, enjoying these items on the spot and saving the Caprese for later.  Though it was so amazing that it will probably be my first choice from now on.
