Reporter Food: Leo’s Country Oven in Madison Heights
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 18, 2021)
Madison Heights, MI – The sign on the front of Leo’s Country Oven in advertises “Home Cookin’,” and indeed my recent lunch at this longtime Madison Heights restaurant had the comforts of a home-cooked meal.
A friend and I had a booth by the window, where it was easy to see the bustle of John R. They ordered the tuna melt sandwich, which came on perfectly toasted bread and was served with chips and a pickle slice. I loved the hearty meal of corned beef, cabbage, and carrots – a perfect way to start the autumn season.
Leo’s has a large menu with burgers, sandwiches, salads, Greek Dishes, entrees, and breakfast items. Other sandwiches include the Char Broiled Chicken, The Turkey Delight, and the Country Baked Ham. For some Greek fare try the Chicken Kabob, the Spinach Cheese Pie, or the Gyro Platter. There’s even a children’s menu for those 12 and under that includes Cheeseburger and French Fries, Chicken Strips, and Grilled Cheese.
Leo’s Country Oven is located at 28611 John R in Madison Heights. Their menu is posted on their Facebook Page.
