Following Trustee Cooper’s Death, Springfield Township Seeks to Fill Vacancy
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 15, 2021)
Springfield Township, MI – Following the announcement of Marc Cooper’s death, The Springfield Township Board of Trustees held a moment of silence for the longtime public servant, father, and business owner who had dedicated his life to being part of the community.
The Board is now seeking applications to fill the vacancy.
Cooper was a Trustee in Springfield Township for 13 years. He had 2 children, 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was owner of Impressive Printing in Waterford as well as a minister and a former Sheriff’s Deputy where he also played McGruff the Crime Dog. In his spare time, he was a referee, umpire, bookkeeper for his church, and Huddles the Lion for the Detroit Lions. He was previously Treasurer for the Waterford Rotary and President of the Clarkston Chamber of Commerce.

Springfield Township Clerk Sean Miller told Oakland County Times “Marc was the kind of man you could always count on, and he was passionate about serving his community and giving back. Just recently, during the recent storms he was out with the Fire Department helping them cut up trees that had fallen and he would do anything for anyone in need.
“It was an honor to serve with him on the Board of Trustees and he will be sorely missed.”
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 pm, Sunday, October 3rd at First Congregational Church of Clarkston.  The family will receive visitors at the church Sunday from 2 pm until time of the Memorial Service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the First Congregational Church of Clarkston Food Pantry or to the family for the future education of Marc’s grandchildren.

The Springfield Township Board will accept applications for an appointment to the office of Township Trustee with a term ending November 20, 2022. Candidates interested in completing the full term must run for election in the 2022 election cycle.
