Holly Days Festival Brings Community Together

Holly, MI-  The Holly community came together over the weekend for community spirit and fun for the Holly Days Festival.  Events included a Color Run to raise money for the Holly Area Community Coalition, a parade, vendor booths, music, a pie eating contest, a family area in the park full of games, and fireworks Saturday night.
Because the event coincided with the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, a tribute was held downtown before the parade, and first responders from several area police and fire departments lined up in front of a giant American Flag for a photo shoot as a helicopter from Oakland County Sheriff’s Office flew low over the crowd.  Families lining Maple Street also enjoyed seeing military planes flying overhead.
In the park the boys and the girls took sides for a tug of war, with the girls winning. Children made cars out of fruits and vegetables to race down a raised track. And archery – a safe kind with soft tips and targets floating on air – was among the activities, as well as face-painting, and a fire safety house.
