Reporter Food: One Eyed Betty’s in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, Sept. 9, 2021)
Ferndale, MI – Ferndale, MI – One-Eyed Betty’s has been a sponsor of Oakland County Times for years, so it was nice being able to join friends there for lunch inside their recently updated Downtown Ferndale space. The giant bottle cap mural is still there, but there are also more spaced-out tables, and a living wall towards the back of the dining room that adds to the creative ambiance. The outside got a facelift too, with fresh black and teal paint and an artistic metal door. For the food, the menu is still full of OEB favorites.
One friend had the Betty Burger topped with pecan smoked bacon, sharp cheddar, garlic aioli, greens, tomato, and onions on a brioche bun, along with fries and a cup of French Onion soup.
My other friend had an order of crispy golden onion rings and a side salad. And I indulged in a delicious Southern Chicken sandwich. This had parmsean crusted chicken, lettuce, pickle, and mayo on a brioche bun. I swapped out the fries for delicious grilled veggies. The sandwich was juicy and flavorful and the grilled veggies were perfectly seasoned.
I’ve previously written about the Bacon with a Side of Bacon, the Orchard Apple Salad, and the fresh made donuts in this March 2020 feature.
Other interesting menu items include the Ridiculously Good Grilled Cheese, The Oyster and Shrimp Po’Boy, Fire Roasted Wings, Betty’s Bangin’ Pasta, Tuna Tacos, and Vegan Tacos. Deserts include handmade donuts, cannoli, and Treat Dreams ice cream. There’s also an extensive menu of Michigan-made beers.
One Eyed Betty’s is located at 175 W Troy St. in Downtown Ferndale. Find more info and order online at https://www.oneeyedbettys.com/.
