Reporter Food: Spacecat V-stro in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal Proxmire, Aug. 8, 2021)
Ferndale, MI- Spacecat V-stro is an unique restaurant in Downtown Ferndale that strives to make vegetarian food fun and comfortable. “Our goal is to create innovative dishes and surprise you with their uniqueness and favor,” says their website.
For my recent visit I ordered the Chkn and Waffle Sandwich, featuring breaded Spacecat Chkn meatless patties on a bun of fluffy waffles with maple butter and a side of maple syrup. Brunch items such as this come with a choice of warm garlic greens or brunchy potatoes. The brunchy potatoes were deliciously made with diced sweet potatoes, onions, and garlic greens. The waffles were soft and buttery and made for a great sandwich.
I also picked up an order of vegan oatmeal raisin cookies.
The menu is full of items made with plant-based proteins, including the Neatball Sub, the Red Dwarf Burger made with a patty of red beets, rice, and lentils, and the Chkn Parm Sandwich. The Sausage and Peppers dish is also made with plant-based Spacecat sausage, and there’s mac and cheese made with protein-packed chickpea pasta.
Spacecat V-stro is located at 255 W. Nine Mile in Downtown Ferndale.  Check out their full menu and more at https://www.spacecatvstro.com.
