Man Charged in Attempted Sexual Assault of 7-11 Clerk in Ferndale

Ferndale, MI-At approximately 4:35 a.m. on July 27, an individual entered the 7-Eleven store located at 9 Mile Rd and Pinecrest. The suspect was in the store, or standing out front, for approximately thirty minutes before he attempted to sexually assault the clerk.
The clerk resisted the attack and the suspect fled on foot.  The clerk called 911.  Ferndale officers responded, checked the area, but did not immediately locate the suspect.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 27, Ferndale Police located the suspect sitting at a bus stop at McNicholas and Livernois.
Today, July 28, the case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office and the suspect was charged.
Marvin Bell, 39, of Detroit was arraigned by 43rd District Magistrate Brennan on one count of Assault with the Intent to Commit Criminal Sexual Conduct, a 10-year felony.  Bell was given a $125,000 cash or surety bond.  Bell’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at the 43rd District Court Ferndale Division.
