Reporter Food: Bobcat Bonnie’s
(Crystal A. Proxmire, July 16, 2021)
Ferndale, MI – On a sunnier day than this, I met up with a friend for lunch on the outdoor patio of Bobcat Bonnie’s in Downtown Ferndale. The outdoor dining space gives patrons plenty of fresh air and space to enjoy their meal. And the menu is full of tasty choices as well as adult beverages.
My friend ordered the fish tacos, made with grilled or fried cod on a flour tortilla with a cabbage mix, pico, chipotle aioli and avocado. They also indulged in a cup of vegan chili. I had the classic burger topped with American cheese, special sauce, shredded lettuce and pickle on a brioche bun, with a side of loaded tots. This simple classic was a well-prepared and enjoyable lunch.
Previously I’ve written about the French Dip, which is a sandwich made with sliced beef, Swiss, mushrooms, peppers and onions with Au Jus on a hoagie, as well as the BBQ bacon meatloaf, which you can read about here. Other sandwich options include the mushroom melt, the shrimp po’boy, the naan club and more.
Bobcat Bonnie’s also offers dinner entrees such as the sesame chicken, butternut squash ravioli, and salads like the kale, the cob and the salmon Caesar. On the weekends they serve brunch, including the blueberry danish waffle, lucky unicorns french toast, avocado toast, smothered potatoes, breakfast tacos and more.
There are several locations in the Metro Detroit area, and once recently announced in Grand Rapids. Find them all, along with the menus, online at http://www.bobcatbonnies.com/.
