Reporter Food: Sagebrush Cantina in Fenton & Lake Orion

Fenton, Lake Orion, MI – With a fun south of the border atmosphere and a great Downtown Lake Orion location, Sagebrush Cantina proved to be a delightful place for a Reporter Food column.  I enjoyed sitting in the window and watching the shoppers going into the various stores, and other bits of bustling downtown life.
I was also able to get some work done while I waited for my Mexican Pizza to arrive.  As described on their website this is “An Italian invention perfected in Mexico!! A large tortilla topped with cheese, your choice of beef or chicken, beans, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and black olives, then topped with sour cream.”  Totally good stuff, with plenty to take home for later.
For the sake of good journalism, I also ordered booze and ice cream.  (Mostly so I  could justify hanging out at the table longer and using the wireless. But also because, yum.)
The Cantina Sunset is a sweet and pretty drink made with Cruzan Rum and banana liquor blended with fresh orange and pineapple juice and a splash of Grenadine. The bright red Grenadine settles at the bottom giving it that layered sunset look. The Deep Fried Ice Cream was an over the top treat with vanilla ice cream, rolled in a crunchy cinnamon topping, and topped with chocolate syrup and cookie crumbles.
Other menu items to consider include fajitas, shrimp tacos, rib dinners, and chimichangas. Also, this Mexican sandwich sounds interesting – “Flour tortillas layered with refried beans, rice and your choice of seasoned chicken, shredded beef or pork verde then smothered in cheese and topped with fresh sour cream and guacamole. Served with fresh lettuce, pico de gallo and sliced jalapenos.”
I’ve also been to the location in Fenton. Both have ample seating and friendly faces to go along with the yummy foods.  Find the locations, hours, menus and more at https://mysagebrushcantina.com.
