Reporter Food: Balkan House in Downtown Ferndale

Ferndale, MI – Summer is a great season to enjoy a Doner Kebab from Balkan House, which has locations in Hamtramck and Downtown Ferndale.
This tasty Bosnian sandwich is served on fresh baked lepnja, which is similar to pita bread. It’s stuffed wtih a choice of beef/lamb or chicken along with onion, cabbage, cucumber, tomato and a delicious yogurt based sauce.
The Loaded Donor Kebab, which I had, also includes waffle fries and feta.
Other items include the Bosnian Burger, the Veal Sandwich, and Chevapi which is seasoned Bosnian sausage links stuffed into lepenja bread. The sausage is 100% Halal beef. Balkan House also has soups and salads, Turkish Coffee, smoothies, and desserts. I had the Baklava, which was just swimming in sweetness.
Though there are a few tables, Balkan House has a robust carryout business, and is available for delivery on Grubhub.  They’re located at 314 W. 9 Mile in Downtown Ferndale and 3028 Caniff in Hamtramck.  Check out their website at https://www.thebalkanhouse.com/ for their full menu and more info.
