Fire Destroys Home on E. Breckenridge in Ferndale
(Crystal Proxmire, June 16, 2021)
Ferndale, MI-  Ferndale Firefighters were called to a home on E. Breckenridge near 9 Mile and Hilton for a house fire in progress at 11:17 pm Tuesday.
“The home where the fire started is a complete loss,” said Ferndale Fire Chief Teresa Robinson.  “Fire had already spread throughout most of the home prior to fire department arrival. Occupants were able to get themselves out of the home prior to Fire Dept arrival. Homeowners sustained minor burns and injuries. The fire spread to the neighbor’s home but the fire department was able to make a great stop and minimize the damage to the second house. No firefighters were injured.”
Firefighters from Royal Oak, Hazel Park, and Madison Heights joined the Ferndale Fire Department as part of mutual aid among the cities.  Robinson said the cause is still under investigation. There were no smoke detectors in the primary home, which was destroyed.
