June 5-6 – Art on the Grand in Downtown Farmington

ART on the GRAND is back to celebrate its 12th anniversary as a stand-alone street art fair! This fine arts and craft fair has a special place in the hearts of Michigan art lovers because it is art-focused, a desirable size, and takes a hands-on approach.

ART on the GRAND takes place on June 5 and 6 along Grand River Avenue in historic downtown Farmington, between Farmington Road and Grove Street. The festival features free admission and an array of high-quality art in a variety of price ranges and disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, wearable art, glass, leather, sculpture, and more.

COVID-19 caused the cancellation of Art on the Grand 2020. This year’s event will follow the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) rules for outdoor gatherings with modifications including a 25% reduction in artist booths to allow for social distancing. Additionally, patrons should note the following:

To keep shopper traffic flowing, arrow signs will guide pedestrians down Grand River in the same directional pattern as car traffic (stay to the right).

Although MDHHS has lifted the mask mandate at outdoor events, some artists may ask patrons to wear masks inside their booths.

MDHHS recommends that individuals who are not yet fully vaccinated continue to wear face masks while in crowded spaces outdoors and practice social distancing.

A sample of each artist’s work is available at www.artonthegrand.com. This is a great way to access the art before and after the show, bringing more visibility to the featured artists from across the country.

KIDS ART ALLEY returns this year, featuring young local artists in grades 6 through 12 who will be on hand to talk about and sell their own creations. KIDS ART ALLEY is located within the art fair next to Sunflour Bakehaus.

Hours for ART on the GRAND are Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you arrive early on Saturday, you can also visit the weekly Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Riley Park.

While you’re in town, visit one of the local restaurants. Farmington boasts a wide variety to suit every taste, with many offering outdoor patio dining. Be sure to plan time for sidewalk shopping at local stores during Art on the GRAND event hours.

ART on the GRAND is sponsored by Anthology of Farmington Hills, Tom Holzer Ford, and Renewal by Andersen, with support from Fresh Thyme and Starbucks. The event is presented by the Farmington Hills Special Services Department’s Cultural Arts Division in partnership with the Farmington Downtown Development Authority.
