Birmingham Seeking Public Art Pieces, Offering Artist Stipend

The City of Birmingham, Michigan recognizes the importance of having a rich cultural environment, including public art programs that enhance the cityscape, enrich the lives of residents and visitors, and promote a vital arts community. Through the Art in Public Spaces program, the Public Arts Board aims to identify, fund and secure artwork for display within the City. Currently, Birmingham features many public art installations in prominent locations throughout the city, enhancing the pedestrian experience and visual character of the community.
The City of Birmingham is currently seeking sculpture donations and loans at four locations within the City. The City will provide a $2,000 stipend to artists for approved artwork. To be eligible for the stipend, art on loan shall have a minimum term of three years and applications must be submitted by June 30, 2021.
