Southfield Council Appoints Myron Frasier to Fill Council Vacancy

Southfield, MI – The Southfield City Council unanimously voted to appoint Myron Frasier to serve on the city council at the May 3 committee-of-the-whole meeting with the resignation of former Councilwoman Tawnya Morris. Councilman Frasier will serve out the remainder of Mrs. Morris’ term until November 2023.
Councilman Frasier previously served on the Southfield City Council for 18 years, including several terms as past Council President, President Pro Tem, Chair of Council Boards & Commissions, Council Finance Committee, Council Legislation Committee, and Neighborhood Services Committee. Additionally, Mr. Frasier served on the Michigan Municipal League Board of Trustees from 2000-2003 (V. Pres 2002-2003), Michigan Municipal League Foundation Board from 2004 to present, National League of Cities Finance, Administration, Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Steering Committee from 2004 to 2009, and Southfield Precinct #38 delegate.

Councilman Frasier retired in 1996 as Director of Network Technical Training SBC Ameritech after 39 years of service and has been a resident of Southfield since 1980. He has served on the Karmanos Cancer Institute Board of Directors, Karmanos Cancer Center, Board of Directors, Detroit Executive Service Corps (DESC) consultant and Past Chair, Common Ground Past Board Chair, Past Southfield AARP Chapter #3483, Corresponding Secretary; Southfield Goodfellows volunteer, Dominion Family Services Board Chair, Southfield MLK Jr. Task Force committee member, JVS Advisory Board member, Southfield Public School Partnership Council and Mitcham Chapel AME Church Trustee and Sunday School teacher.
