Reporter Food: Carrabba’s Italian Grill
(Crystal A. Proxmire, May 5, 2021)
Troy, MI – I don’t normally write about big chain restaurants, but I had a lovely dinner here and figured I would share.  According to Wikipedia, Carrabba’s had 247 locations as of 2015.  One of those locations is in Troy, and that’s where a friend and I went.
For the appetizer course,  I savored an order of stuffed mushrooms, while my friend ordered the mussels in white wine lemon butter, which were flavored with fresh basil. The mushrooms were stuffed with cheese and sausage, making them extra delicious.
For the main course my dining companion had one of their selections of steak topped with Ardente topping which is blue cheese, roasted tomato, and basil. He also enjoyed the sauteed spinach. I absolutely loved the veal piccata, which came dusted in flour, sauteed and topped with lemon butter sauce, parsley, and capers. That also came with a side salad.  And there was bread for us to share with an olive oil dipping sauce.
For dessert my friend had cheesecake with a strawberry flavored topping, and I had the John Cole, which is vanilla ice cream topped with caramel sauce and roasted cinnamon rum pecans.
The food was all delicious and there are many other items available for dine in or carryout.  One could try the tomato caprese with fresh burrata, or the shrimp and scallop linguine alla vodka. There’s also lasagna, spaghetti, and simply grilled mahi.
