Driver Crashes into Tree in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal Proxmire, May 3, 2021)
Ferndale, MI -A crash in Downtown Ferndale damaged a tree and a parked car Saturday.
According to Ferndale Police:
“On May 1, 2021 at 4:25 pm, this single vehicle accident occurred when a 87-year old male was making a left-turn onto W 9 Mile Rd from Allen. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree and parked vehicle on the northside of W 9 Mile Rd, just west of Affirmations. The elderly male driver was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. Alcohol or drugs were not a factor.”
The crash did not impact the new bench that is under construction just east of where the crash occurred. The new bench includes a large planter box, as well as concrete posts built in that add stability and protect the sidewalks and buildings should an accident occur. The bench is a project of the Downtown Development Authority, and the style will complement the nearby Schiffer Pocket Park.
