Ferndale, MI – Over $1200 was raised to support the annual Ferndale Pride festival though the recent Ferndale Pride Road Rally. On April 10 teams competed to answer clues that led to places around town, including famous Ferndale landmarks like the hill at Martin Road Park, the skate park, the mural at Blumz by JRDesigns, and the dog park. Participants took selfies to prove they were there.
The Oakland County Times sponsored the Red Ram Clue, and Jim Shaffer and Associates sponsored the clue located at Ferndale Project. Some folk even found the well-known Realtor “hiding” on the patio at project-scoring them significant bonus points. Stores like Modern Natural Baby, Rust Belt Market, and The Candle Wick Shoppe also made for some photo ops.
“For a first-time event, we were very happy with the totals,” said Ferndale Pride coordinator Julia Music. “Money will be used for the services we use to keep Pride going. Any additional funds are distributed to six Ferndale-based charities at the end of the year.
“We were very lucky to have several companies sponsor this event. Versa, Park Ferndale, and Republic Parking all stepped up to help us offset costs associated with prizes and parking.”
Ferndale Pride is expected to take place Oct. 2 in Downtown Ferndale. Learn more at www.FerndalePride.com.
