Orion Township, MI – Governor Gretchen Whitmer visited Orion Township recently so she could “fill the damn potholes” along with workers from the Oakland County Road Commission and Operating Engineers Local 324.
Her team put together a video that shows Whitmer giving signals to the truck driver, and using a technique of patting and dragging material with a shovel to properly fill potholes. In the video, she also asks the crew about the strangest thing they’ve found on the side of the road, and she makes reference to Michigan-made Oberon Ale.
“I am thrilled that the Oakland County Road Commission allowed me to roll up my sleeves and play a small part in the vital work they do each and every day,” said Governor Whitmer. “We must continue to rebuild our roads and bridges to keep Michiganders safe and bolster our economy.”
Last year, the Governor announced the Rebuilding Michigan plan, a $3.5 billion bond plan to rebuild state highways and bridges, expanding hundreds of major new road projects over the next five years. She has been visiting communities across the state as part of a “Work with Whitmer” tour.
