Reporter Food: Assaggi Bistro in Downtown Ferndale
(Crystal A. Proxmire, March 28, 2021)
Ferndale, MI – Assaggi Bistro has been a Ferndale staple for over 20 years, with owners George and Josie serving up beautifully prepared meals for in the dining room and for carryout.
This weekend I treated myself to a dish of the Twice Cooked Moroccan Duck Legs which came served with couscous, pistachio, dried fruits, pomegranate BBQ sauce. The meat was so tender that it nearly melted off the bone, and the sauce balanced out the richness greasy taste.
I also ordered an Almond Crusted Brie Salad and a slice of lemoncello cream cake. Much of the salad was saved for the next day, and it was still fresh and delicious.  And the cake, of course, was sweet and good.
Assaggi Bistro has several tantalizing items on their menu including Prince Edward Island Mussels, Scottish Salmon, and Housemade Gnocchi.  The Chicken Francese also sounds lovely as it’s made with Parmesan, orecchiette with eggplant, mushrooms, olives, tomatoes, and lemon beurre blanc.
Assaggi Bistro is located at 330 W Nine Mile Rd in Downtown Ferndale.  Check out their website at https://assaggibistro.com/ for more info and for online ordering.
