UPDATE 10:37pm:  Clawson Police released the following statement:
“On Sunday March 21, 2021, Clawson officers were dispatched to the 400 block of W. 14 Mile around 2:34pm on a shooting call. Officers from the Troy and Royal Oak Police Departments also responded to the scene. This situation continued to the next-door neighbor’s house. Officers arrived and found the suspect had fled back into his house and barricaded himself.
“It was discovered that a teenage female was shot by her stepfather and she was transported to the hospital for her injuries. At this time, she is in critical condition. The neighbor was also shot in the leg during this incident and was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
The officers were unable to further communicate with the suspect. The Oakland County SWAT team, negotiators, and a psychologist were called to the scene for assistance. Officers were unable to make any communication with the suspect and with the use of a drone, several hours into the stand-off, the suspect was located deceased in the house due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Clawson, MI – A teenager in Clawson has been shot in what police describe as a domestic incident, and as of 6pm Sunday evening 14 Mile Road is blocked as Oakland County’s SWAT Team attempts to make contact with the barricaded suspect.
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and Clawson Police Chief Scott Sarvello addressed the media at the perimeter of the scene west of Main Street while members of the SWAT Team kept watch on the home where the suspect is believed to be alone inside.
“The information we have at this point is it started with a domestic type situation, and it led to an argument, and then the shooting,” Chief Sarvello said. The officials declined to release information about the victim or their injuries, but did say they were a teenager and they had been taken to an area hospital for treatment.
“We’re hoping to make contact with the suspect and have a peaceful resolution,” he added. They have not yet been able to make contact with the suspect, who they say does live in the home.
Chief Sarvello said some neighbors are sheltering in place while others have left their homes.
