100 Women Who Care Group Pools Resources, Donates to Dutton Farm
(March 15, 2021)
Troy, Rochester, MI – 100 Women Who Care, Troy (100WWCT) is a group of local women who are interested in supporting non-profit charities throughout Troy and Southeast Michigan. Together they have the ability to contribute to the growth of this community in ways they never thought possible. 100WWCT was launched in January, 2016, by Julie McClure, Sharon Spagnola, Nancy Hauff, Marylou Levy, and Karen Gates to provide a simple and efficient process to raise money for local 501(c)3 organizations.
The group gathers quarterly for a one-hour meeting, learns about local charities, and each member donates $100 to a charity that the group selects. This combined donation makes a real impact, without time-consuming fundraising events and planning.
As of November 2020, 100WWCT has donated to seventeen charities and have collected over $110,000 in donations. Charities include: Troy Police Honor Guard, Troy Fire Department Memorial Fund, Motor City Mitten, Humble Design, Morse Elementary PTO, On My Own of Michigan, Troy Rotary, and Judson Center to name a few.
The first donation in 2021 went to Dutton Farm in Rochester – a non-profit that provides educational and employment opportunities to adults with special needs over the age of 26. 1000WWCT donation will be used to support the many program experiences that they provide.
According to their website, Dutton Farm is “on a mission to celebrate, educate, and employ people with special needs.” They provide adult education, workforce development, and community involvement. Plus they have a market where program participants sell items like lip balm, body balm, beard balm, sugar scrub, bar soap, liquid pump soap, candles, bath salts and spritzes.
Jennifer Roccanti, Executive Director of On My Own of Michigan has seen the benefits of 100WWCT firsthand. “We benefited from the generosity of our 100WWCT neighbors in 2019, turning their support into general operating funds for the critical programs we provide to individuals with developmental disabilities right here in Troy. Without the support of individuals and organizations like 100WWCT, small nonprofits like ours would cease to exist.”
“While we all navigate our new normal and seek ways to truly make a difference, consider supporting your neighborhood nonprofits and amplifying your impact with organizations like 100WWCT,” the group’s Co-founder Nancy Hauff said.
“We are striving to reach 100 members. We invite YOU to become a part of this powerful group, joining other women who wish to have a positive impact on the lives of those in need. You do NOT have to be a Troy resident to join. Members nominate non-profits of their choice, presenting details regarding the charity at scheduled meetings,” Hauff added.
