May 20 – The Dragon of Ynys Zoom Discussion: Book Sales to Benefit Ferndale Pride

Ferndale, MI – Atthis Arts is donating all proceeds from direct sales of the title The Dragon of Ynys through March 2021 to Ferndale Pride.

On May 20th, the Ferndale Public Library will host two Zoom meet the author book clubs one for adults and one for teens. Author Minerva Cerridwen will join us from Belgium to discuss the book.

Jasmine Parker, Youth and Teen Service Librarian is excited to be able to bring an author in for this book club she stated, “When authors join book clubs there is more buy-in because they can answer questions and provide responses which they know first hand as the creators of the story.

It also helps the club meeting have a deeper sense of completion because the author is there to offer their perspective and receive feedback from the readers.

When asked how the library has benefited from Zooms she said, “What a three-pong adapter is to a plug cord, Zoom is to our library. Zoom has been the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for the Ferndale Public Library. COVID-19 has brought a temporary end to our in-person programming. Yet, Zoom has afforded us the ability to still stay in contact with our community be it through weekly storytimes or programming. I would imagine that even once in-person programming resumes, Zoom will continue to play a very significant role in the way we offer programs.” Emily Bell, the press’ founder and editor of Atthis Arts is thrilled and honored to support Ferndale Pride through our stories.

She stated, “Community is one of our small press’ core values, along with authentic expression and thoughtfulness, and we believe the work that Ferndale Pride does is essential to the community, especially in times like these. Pride supports. Pride lifts. Pride celebrates. It offers everything that has been harder for many of us to find this last year. So we wanted to do something to give back.”
